DPVM Revalidation

Revalidation of DP Vessel Maintainer Certificate

To revalidate your DPVM Certificate in 2026, in addition to the 150 days of sea time or equivalent, you will also need to:

  • Be enrolled in a NI-approved Continual Professional Development programme AND undertake the NI DPVM Revalidation Online exam

OR

  • Complete the NI DPVM Revalidation Course

To ensure all applicants have enough time to meet the requirements, we will be introducing the changes gradually. Although your revalidation may not be due until 2026 or beyond, it is important you understand this requirement now.

Note:  All DP Vessel Maintainers whose certificates are due to expire between 1st January 2026 and 31st December 2028, and have been unable to complete the new requirements of the CPD programmes and/or DP Revalidation Online exam to revalidate their certificates, will be issued with a 12-month indemnity letter once they have entered 150 DP days into their online application  and completed the payment. The applicant must complete the new requirements of the CPD and/or course and resubmit their application within 12 months of the issue date of the letter to be eligible to apply.’

The indemnity letter is not to be used by the applicant to complete any of the sea time requirements for their application.

Your sea time will remain valid. Once the requirements have been completed, log back into your account and click on submit.

Your application will then be entered into the processing queue.

Note: The DPOs will be issued with an Indemnity Letter once they submit their Revalidation application, during this period they will not be able to accrue DP sea time.
